On the left side of the margin i asked a question about how skills can be at the demand of the economy. But after further reading i was able to understand how there is a somewhat of a supply and demand with certain skilled workers. This produces an economy that is headed in a certain future with technology making some skilled jobs useless.

In this passage Brandt put together that sponsors determine a person’s relationships as they are older. This can be tied in to Gee’s idea of a Primary Discourse, which both say that how a person is unique is how they are brought up and what they encounter through Their Primary Discourse.

From some of the examples that Brandt gives, in someways a Sponsor can be a described as a Discourse. With greater sponsors, can a person develop their skills to a higher level compared to a person with not as many sponsors. Does this show a inequality in sponsorship? or does it show that each person is based on what sponsors they had.

This statement by Shirley Rose, divides the narratives into two subjects which are classified by gender. These subjects were shown to be more towards social autonomy if they were a boy, and social participation if they were a boy. This is described to be found in their past literary narratives, giving us insight of how gender norms are projected onto our youth.

Later in this article Alexander describes how that some of the narratives also came with the message of kids working hard to get good grades, with the soul purpose of those grades is seen as a way to make more money in the future. This observation could be related to the argument that knowledge is power, but is that true? I also asked a question whether this need for  future success is both shared equally between men and women.

On the topic of students pushing themselves to gain “upward mobility”, i had the question whether this was a bad thing that is happening to students? This comes with the argument of if students push themselves for a benefit of the cause, does it also benefit the economy and our progression for new technology
