Upside-down Schiele

Upside-down Schiele

When I started to draw the Egon Schiele drawing I was anxious because I didn’t know where to start. Once I began with the abstract parts of the piece it was easier to then fill in the more textured parts of the drawing. Normally I would have jumped into a drawing by starting at the face because it was the most interesting part of the picture. But then I realized that it is hard to proportion the rest of the body to match the head. This time I started with lines of the shoulders and the tie area to plan where I was going next. I really messed up the hands compared to the original, this could be since I always have never been able to make the fingers go together. From when I started to the end it took me 15 minutes to complete my version of the picture. It felt like 2 minutes when I was drawing and I enjoyed the strategy of filling in the small abstract details first.
